The best job in the world!

A new day begins at Karongwe Private Game Reserve.

We head towards the northern part of the reserve. It takes us over two hours to track the lions using telemetry. I will never forget the moment those amber eyes started walking towards me. My heart stops as she stares directly into my eyes. She is beautiful. I begin to cry. At last I am here, I am in Africa!

As the sun begins to fade, one by one the lions emerge from the bush, rubbing against each other affectionately. They rollover playfully onto their backs like the big pussy cats that they are, before strolling on down the road. We follow at a distance, catching glimpses as we go.

Eventually, they appear from the long grass once more and flop down all around our truck. OMG! OMG! OMG! I am in Africa!  I can’t believe this is now my backyard. I will get to enjoy this interaction every single day for the next six months. Woohoo! I’m loving my new job!
