Volunteer Abroad Programs
Volunteer Abroad with GVI and choose from over 150 volunteer projects to work with GVI field staff, local communities and organizations which have been specially selected for their commitment to conservation and humanitarian needs.

Volunteering with Children
If you are interested in volunteering with children we have a variety of projects which include teaching, arts and sports, social work and childcare.
The children that you will be working with are from very different backgrounds. Some are orphans, others are from indigenous communities and you may find yourself volunteering with street children. You will receive all the support and training you need from GVI and our project partners.
Climate Change Projects
For those concerned about the changing state of our climate GVI offers the opportunity for you to volunteer on climate change projects around the world.
You can volunteer on a variety of projects to learn how the community and the environment is being affected and what you can do to help.
Marine Conservation Projects
Our marine conservation projects offer you the chance to volunteer on projects that help endangered or threatened species.
Opportunities exist to volunteer all over the world from 2 weeks and upwards. Current programs include dolphin research, turtle conservation programs, coral reef research projects and marine mammal projects.
Teaching English Abroad Projects
If you would like to volunteer to teach english abroad GVI has a large number of programs spanning the globe.
Most of our programs include a training and orientation session and on some you will undergo an introduction to Teaching English as Foreign Language (TEFL). For those of you with prior experience we have some challenging placements in some remote corners of the world which are desperate for your help.
Construction Projects
GVI's building projects offer great short term volunteering opportunities to make a real difference to communities around the world
Work alongside local community members and help improve their standard of living by building energy efficient stoves, renovating community centers, or help to prevent human-animal conflict by working on construction projects with conservation goals.
Community Volunteering Projects
Community volunteering abroad offers the unique chance to really immerse yourself in the culture while also giving something back
On these projects you will be welcomed into the heart of the community and much emphasis is put on cultural immersion during the orientation and training in your first few days. On many of the projects you will learn the local language, be taught cultural do’s and don’ts and often you will be staying with a host family for some, if not all of your stay.
Wildlife and Conservation Projects
For those interested in wildlife and conservation volunteering then GVI has much to offer.
We have a wide range of volunteer programs available across the world with projects focusing on; animal husbandry, care and rehabilitation, conservation, scientific research and environmental education. Opportunities exist for you to volunteer with individual species alongside dedicated staff that are specialists in their fields.
