Volunteering for Students
Are you looking to do something slightly different with your summer vacation? Do you want to gain extra college credit? Or have you finished school and want to take some time out before going into a job? Then a GVI volunteer abroad program may be just for you! Volunteering overseas with GVI gives you the chance to discover new places, learn new skills, immerse yourself in new cultures and gain some fantastic experience. You might want to join a program that is related to your studies in order to gain some practical experience in your field of study or you might simply want to do something totally different. Whatever you want to do, GVI will have the volunteering program to suit you!
A large percentage of GVI volunteers are students joining projects straight after college. Many students leave college wondering what they should do next and are unsure whether to jump straight into a job, to go overseas or to continue studying at college. Going on a GVI overseas volunteering project combines all these options whilst contributing to the students’ future employability. When volunteering you may want to use what you have learnt at school, so if you’ve done an education degree how about following it up with a TEFL course in Thailand? Or if you’ve studied marine biology or zoology how do you fancy 10 weeks diving and collecting data in the Seychelles or studying primates and big game in Kenya?
It is possible that your GVI program will count towards you college credits. Each school does it differently but GVI can provide you with the relevant information to put forward to your tutors so you can gain that extra credit. Please see our college credit section for more information and help. Whatever you want from volunteering abroad, GVI’s range of programs of varying durations in a variety of locations are rewarding and exciting.
