Overview
Volunteer in Zambia to Teach sports to children

Zambia Flag

Join a team of local volunteers in Africa working to improve the lives of under privileged rural children through sports programs

This volunteer program in Zambia is designed to use sport and physical activities to engage rural children, particularly girls, in life skills education that integrates HIV/AIDS and Sexual and Reproductive Health Education. Zambia is one of the poorest nations in Africa, and cultural practices often lead to children and young adults exposing themselves to risky sexual practices.

Volunteers should be adventurous, independent and happy to teach sports to children (though some training will be given upon arrival). This program enables volunteers to enhance their global awareness; further develop their leadership, coaching and teaching skills; and gain practical lifetime experience. Come and volunteer in Zambia and help change some wonderful young peoples’ lives for the better.

The project is full of potential. What it takes is an individual or group of volunteers to inspire and motivate the smile of the kids and local volunteer coaches

What Difference Does This Project Make?

Sport and physical activity provide young people with physical, social, and mental benefits, thereby improving their productivity and social well-being. In addition to its direct benefits, sport is also used as a communication vehicle to promote healthy lifestyles and to prevent youths forming harmful habits such as tobacco and drug use. In many countries around the world, and Zambia in particular, sport is being used to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and to target vulnerable groups such as orphans and out-of-school youths. Sport can tackle factors that contribute to the spread of HIV/AIDS by providing knowledge, life skills, access to services, and safe and supportive environments.
