Climate Change Projects

Diver

For those concerned about the changing state of our climate GVI offers the opportunity for you to volunteer on climate change projects around the world.

You can work on a variety of projects to learn how the community and the environment is being affected and what you can do to help. Our conservation programs monitor how wildlife and animal behavior is affected by changing temperatures. On our community programs we join forces with local masons to build energy efficient stoves, which helps improve health conditions in the villages, as well as reduces the amount of wood burnt.

Marine Conservation Projects

Diver

Our marine conservation projects offer volunteers the chance to work alongside scientists and researchers collecting data on endangered or threatened species.

Opportunities exist to work all over the world from 2 weeks and upwards. Whilst all the projects focus on research many of them also have environmental education and community involvement. If you have a desire to work with a particular species, such as dolphins, whales or turtles then our projects will be of interest to you. If you are looking for a more rounded experience then you may want to look at our marine expeditions, which offer in depth science and dive training so you can contribute to data collection on the coral reefs.

Teaching English Projects

Diver

If you are a teacher or would like to gain experience in this area then join one of our teaching projects around the world.

Our projects offer suitable placements for beginners where there is lots of training and support from our staff. Most of our programs include a training and orientation session and on some you will undergo an introduction to Teaching English as Foreign Language (TEFL). For those of you with prior experience we have some challenging placements in some remote corners of the world which are desperate for your help. The students you will be teaching vary in age from young children with little or no previous schooling, to adults that require educational reinforcement. Their enthusiasm knows no bounds and they are a pleasure to teach. If you would like to pursue a career in teaching or offer your services teaching around the world you may be interested in joining one of our TEFL expeditions, where you will receive teacher training and qualifications.

Construction Projects

Diver

Global Vision International has programs around the world that require volunteers to work on building and construction projects.

These projects are ideal for those with previous construction experience and for those of you that haven’t done this sort of thing before we can teach you everything you need to know. Work alongside local community members and help improve their standard of living by building energy efficient stoves. These stoves reduce carbon emissions resulting in less smoke inhalation and less deforestation. You can also help prevent human-animal conflict by working on construction projects with conservation goals.

Community Volunteering Projects

Diver

If you would like to immerse yourself in community life then this type of project is ideal.

GVI sets up these projects in conjunction with the local community who fully support the volunteers. On these projects you will be welcomed into the heart of the community and much emphasis is put on cultural immersion during the orientation and training in your first few days. On many of the projects you will learn the local language, be taught cultural do’s and don’ts and often you will be staying with a host family for some, if not all of your stay. There is no better way to get to grips with the culture and way of life than to live with them.
