Receive personal development opportunities while interning on an ecological and sustainable organic farm
During this internship you will based near to Arenal Volcano and be immersed in the practices of bio-dynamic farming with the opportunity to learn about and participate in organic and sustainable farming practices. You will help harvest the organic herbs and produce, take care of the animals and be immersed in the practices of bio-dynamic farming. Finca Luna Nueva is leading resource centre for Central America and a working organic and bio-dynamic farm. The overall aim of the program is to impact sustainable practices throughout Central America. You will work alongside a dedicated staff supervisor to ensure you maximize your placement, cultural and learning activities, make a real difference to the resource centre and gain invaluable hands on practical experience in a variety of fields, including project management and team leadership.

What Difference Does This Internship Make?
Volunteers will be working alongside project staff, sustainability specialists, and farm workers to develop and maintain sustainable farming initiatives. As Luna Nueva continues to grow both in area and as a regional resource centre, it will benefit the area tremendously. The farm will be able to supply more jobs and financial stability to the local community directly as well as indirectly through the increased tourism. Additionally, their work on rainforest preservation will bring invaluable environmental benefits to the region and the planet.

Living on a stunning Demeter certified organic and sustainably run farm in a tropical rainforest working alongside passionate and knowledgeable people will be truly inspirational. Gaining an internationally recognised certification on team leading and seeing what a difference your work and ideas can make to the long-term success of this educational farm will be life lasting. Taking Spanish lessons; learning about the history of the area and being immersed in the culture; seeing birds, monkeys, butterflies and maybe even a jaguar; enjoying the nearby adventure activities such as whitewater rafting, zip lining and volcano viewing hikes make this experience extraordinary.
Location
Volunteers’ accommodation is on a private rainforest reserve is located adjacent to the 54,000 acre Children’s Eternal Rainforest (‘CERF’) conservation area. The views and wildlife are spectacular, with Arenal Volcano (Costa Rica’s most active volcano) a majestic site to behold on the horizon. Finca Luna Nueva is near the town of La Fortuna, about a 3 to 4 hour journey by minibus from the capital city of San Jose.

Field Conditions
Volunteers will be based at Finca Luna Nueva, housing will be basic, yet comfortable, dorm style in a house located near the lodge’s office, or in nearby homestays. The food is very typical of the area, and is varied, including meats a couple of times a week, vegetables and fruits, some of which are produced right from the farm. Vegetarians and vegans are also well catered for. The accommodation includes three meals a day, a packed lunch is provided when working. With the close proximity to the lodge and nearby town La Fortuna, optional additional excursions and spa services may be available at an additional cost.
