Internships Abroad

Choose from a range of life-changing internship options overseas.

The GVI Internships Abroad program offers personal and professional development opportunities in a broad range of exciting career paths, located in exotic locations around the world. The program offers formal training and hands on professional work experience, with a GVI staff mentor to guide you along the way. Durations range from 2 weeks to 1 year.

All programs include:

Specialist guidance with program selection, dedicated staff mentor, site training and tuition, formal qualifications as appropriate to the specific program, hands on professional experience, weekly formal reviews on a one to one basis, training and experience evaluation, additional work placement, final evaluation, certification and summary of training and experience, confidential professional reference.

Subjects available:

Environmental research and conservation with coral reefs, turtles, lions, monkeys and other species, marine biology and conservation, scuba diving courses in the Caribbean and Indian Oceans, teaching in developing, child-care in impoverished communities, english language teaching, organic farming.

Additional experiences:

In addition to providing academic qualifications and opportunities for personal and professional development, the programs offer personal challenges and achievements. Many skills can be gained or improved through the internship, including problem solving, leadership, flexibility and team work, as well as professional accountability. All of this in an exciting new place, developing cultural awareness, with opportunities for international travel and friends.

Long Term Internships

Internships of durations greater than 3 months include a further work placement. Examples of placements include working at dive shops, safari lodges, environmental research programs, schools in developing countries or community development programs. In these positions, interns are expected to use their training and professional work experience to work more independently as staff members and continue their professional development.
