Side Trips
As well as going on planned dives and performing research work, participants have the opportunity to go on additional fun dives, including cavern dives in Mexico, and on seasonal trips to work with and see wildlife like crocodiles, turtles, manatees and whale sharks. In Mexico you can visit either the Tulum or Coba Mayan ruins and in Belize and Honduras you can see remnants of the ancient Mayan civilisations. In Guatemala there will be the chance for adventure activities, including volcano climbing and mountain biking. A side-trip to climb an active volcano at night to see the lava flows and a visit to a GVI school for the poorest of the indigenous children of the area, is also included.
