Stretching from the high peaks of the Andes in the west to the lush Amazonian rainforest in the east, Bolivias amazing range of high altitude landscapes make it an exciting destination for anyone who wants to volunteer overseas. Bolivias capital city, La Paz, is the highest capital city in the world and is so high up that the oxygen content of the air is a third less than at sea level. On the Altiplano, the largest high plateau outside of Tibet, sits the highest lake in the world, Lake Titicaca. Lake Titicaca is one of the largest bodies of water in South America and contains the Isla del Sol the island on which Inca mythology features as the birthplace of their people.
Enjoy the Gran Poder festival and the Carnival of Oruro or stroll through the Witches Market inspecting local handicraft and trying out the native Aymará herbal remedies.
