Volunteer Travel in Turkey
As Europe's bridge with Asia and the Middle-East, Turkey has a uniquely diverse culture in which modernity and tradition sit side by side, making it a fantastic and fascinating country in which to volunteer abroad. You cannot get far without stumbling across remarkable contrasts existing happily alongside each other: churches and mosques, modern rock and Byzantine folk music, Hittite and Roman archaeological sites the former predating the latter by more than a thousand years. In the cities too, where ancient buildings stand alongside towering skyscrapers, a nights entertainment can be as refined as ballet or opera or as passionate as a football match.
The landscape of Turkey also varies greatly. From small country towns surrounded by olive groves to mountain ranges and high plateaus, shimmering lakes and rivers to the coastal waters of three different seas, there is so much to be discovered. Great food, rich history, good people and a delightful climate all go to make Turkey a brilliant destination if you're thinking of volunteer travel.
