Volunteer Travel in Mexico
As the home of some of the worlds most famous beaches, some of the Americas best archaeology, one of the worlds most populated cities, and more than 10% of the worlds biodiversity, Mexico surely has to be one of the best destinations in which to take a volunteer vacation. Whether you're kicking back in Tijuana, living it up in Acapulco or retracing ancient footsteps in the Yucatan, theres something for everyone volunteering in this large and diverse country.
Mexico City, built on the site of the old Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan, is one of the worlds largest and most well known metropolis and is a Mecca for much of the countrys extraordinary modern culture and arts scene. Mexicos other wonderful cities, including vibrant Guadalajara (the birthplace of mariachi music), and sun-soaked Cancun (the world-renowned tourist favorite), constantly surprise and deliver beyond peoples expectations. However, if extreme is your thing, expeditions across the moon-like desert lands of the remote Baja peninsula or surfing one of the best beach-breaks in the world along the Oaxaca coastline could provide just the sort of challenge you are looking for.
