Although only a quarter the size of Mexico, Central Americas seven countries encompass a diversity of landscapes, cultures, things to do and see, and art and architecture, unlike anywhere else on earth. Famous civilizations rose and fell in Central America, so a wealth of ancient Mayan city ruins still dot the region in a variety of locations, from the depths of lush jungles which are only accessible by boat to the top of mountains only accessible with some good hiking boots. Many old colonial towns from the time of European rule can also be found throughout the region, often containing winding cobbled streets and unique, grand architecture.

Volunteer Travel in Central America offers the chance to explore beautiful feats of human achievement, as well as wondrous natural sights to discover. Journey into the depths of lush tropical forest as you raft down white water rapids, dive in gorgeous Caribbean waters seeing a rainbow of tropical fish and traverse terrain that varies from red-hot volcanoes to pine forests, towering ridges to open plains, mysterious deep caves to golden sands. Amongst these unique and differing landscapes, you can visit a variety of indigenous communities, which are filled with fascinating people and awash with cultural practices often hundreds of years old.
