Volunteer Travel in Laos
Though not visited a great deal, this very traditional Southeast Asian country has so much to offer anyone looking to volunteer overseas. If you wish to volunteer in an area that has been left practically unaffected by the tourist industry, you will enjoy the beautiful landscapes, diverse cultures and hospitable people that are to be found in Laos.
A slow boat along the Mekong River, which traces much of Laos western border with Thailand and Burma, begins to reveal a country with a varied store of wonderful sights and experiences to be enjoyed. From rice fields to bamboo forests, markets on cobbled-stoned streets to golden spires reaching skyward from innumerable Buddhist temples, the ancient ruins of the moon-like mountain valleys to the sight of the rare Irrawaddy dolphin; Laos mixes the relaxed and spiritual with the vibrant and traditional, making it a brilliant destination for anyone planning volunteer travel in Southeast Asia.
