China, also known as the People’s Republic of China, is the fourth largest country in the world, and has the largest population on earth with over 1.3 billion inhabitants, approximately 1/5th of the world’s population. There are many different ethnic groups, languages and religions that exist throughout China. The main religions are Taoism, Islam, Buddhism , Catholicism and Protestantism. China has a diverse landscape ranging from forest steppes and deserts in the north, to subtropical forests in the south near Laos and Vietnam. The Himalayan mountain range can be found in the west along the borders of India and Central Asia, with China’s coastline in the east. With almost 4,000 years of recorded history, China is one of the world's most ancient civilizations and boasts rich cultural relics and historical sites.
China offers a vast array of things to do and places to see. Here are a few suggestions: You can visit the bustling markets, explore Beijing by bike like a local and Yunnan's threatened Tiger Leaping Gorge walk. You can visit the panda’s in Sichuan, try the nations weird and wonderful cuisine, and experience one of Asia’s most famous walks. Get pleasure from a walk on the Great Wall, marvel at the Terracotta Army, appreciate the striking limestone formations at Guilin, learn tai chi, and if you are in China at the time, experience the celebrations at Chinese New Year.
