Volunteer Travel in Uganda

Uganda is a country of breathtaking natural beauty. The view from Entebbe International Airport, amongst the equatorial forest that runs right up to Lake Victoria, is testament enough to that. For many years Uganda has been a country on the up and is now in a position to make fantastic use of what nature has given it. Here the savannah of East Africa meets West Africas jungle, which results with Uganda being the home to some of Africas best flora and fauna, including lions, crocodiles, chimpanzees and half of the worlds remaining mountain gorillas.

The capital, Kampala, is a vibrant and modern city, which reflects the fact that Uganda has one of Africas fastest growing economies. Ethnically diverse, Uganda has a significant Indian population and, significantly, the town of Jinja is one of the sites where Mahatma Gandhi chose to have his ashes scattered. In the Impenetrable Forest another name for Bwindi National Park you can see forest elephants as well as the rare giant forest hog, or find your way to the spectacular Sipi Falls near the Kenyan border to enjoy a magnificent view of Mount Elgon. Volunteer travel in Uganda has so much to offer anyone volunteering overseas who has an adventurous heart and intrepid spirit.
