Volunteer Travel in Cameroon

If you are thinking of volunteering in Africa but are unsure where you want to go, Cameroon is the destination for you. Cameroon is often referred to as ‘Africa in miniature’ because the country contains many of the religions, cultures, cuisines and landscapes of the whole continent. Within its borders, Cameroon has French and English speaking parts, Muslim and Christian dominated religions, and a variety of ethnic groups who are each unique. Cameroon’s landscapes are as diverse as its people, having mountains, hills, plateaus, coastal plains, lakes, arid grasslands, savannahs and rainforests.

Within this diverse landscape are a variety of national parks where antelopes, elephants and other spectacular wildlife roam. The rainforests are filled with a number of primates, including species of critically endangered great apes, such as the Cross River Gorilla. GVI is working to protect such endangered species, so volunteer travel in Cameroon is ideal for anyone interested in wildlife conservation.
