Field Guide Course in South Africa
FGASA
The Field Guides Association of Southern Africa (FGASA) is a non-profit organisation that represents individuals and organisations involved in offering professional field guiding services to members of the public. FGASA sets standards for Field Guides throughout Southern Africa in the form of a training syllabus, a very strict code of ethics, and an assessment system for Field Guides.
By ensuring that field guide courses meet the criteria set out by FGASA, trainers can ensure that their students are receiving a quality and meaningful education experience that will prepare them for the FGASA Exam. Quality field guide trainers not only meet FGASA's criteria, but enhance it and make their courses even better.
This 4-week course covers the topics required for a FGASA Level 1 qualification. Practical and theoretical programmes within game reserves all lead to a safe and fully comprehensive understanding of guiding, tracking and South Africa's beautiful wilderness.
Side Trips
Participants will visit one of the rural schools in the area, go on several full-day safaris in the Kruger National Park and enjoy a panorama tour of the area to see the spectacular scenery, including the Blyde River Canyon.
