About Us

We are incredibly appreciative of the support that GVI gives to EHRA and indeed without this partnership we would be unable to provide support to the local people of Damaraland and protection for the desert elephants.

Rachel Harris, Director EHRA, Namibia , 2006

This section of our website aims to provide you with comprehensive information about Global Vision International (GVI) so you can learn about what we do and who we are.

There are now a large number of volunteer travel organizations that offer a variety of options for volunteer travel, so it is worth doing your research to ensure you go on a volunteer vacation with a volunteer organization that provides the best for their volunteers and the host countries in which they operate. Being one of the first volunteer travel organizations, GVI is proud of what we have achieved and how we do it, so have a look below to find out more about us.

Quick guide to Global Vision International:

  • Formed in 1998, GVI sends over 2,000 volunteers away every year to aid-reliant projects worldwide
  • GVI volunteers come from a range of different backgrounds and locations all over the world
  • GVI is a non-political, non-religious organization
  • GVI employ over 150 field staff and representatives in more than 30 countries worldwide
  • GVI has been chosen to work alongside some of the most leading and prominent conservation and community development organizations in the world, including The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, Rainforest Concern, The Jane Goodall Institute, South African National Parks and the Mexican National Parks Board, amongst many others
  • GVI staff members are of the highest caliber, from the office personnel to the staff in the field. Expedition staff are fully trained as full-time members of the GVI team. GVI does not use the services of contract personnel, short term workers or part time leaders on expeditions
  • GVI's office personnel visit expeditions and projects regularly to ensure that safety protocols are maintained, project goals are kept in focus, volunteers are enjoying their experiences, and to develop new, exciting and fulfilling volunteer opportunities. By visiting the expeditions and projects personally the office staff can provide the most accurate and up to date information possible to potential volunteers
  • GVI is one of the most well respected and prominent international volunteering organizations in the USA. GVI volunteering opportunities have been featured in various international newspapers and magazines, including The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, The Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Boston Globe, Chicago Sun-Times, and the Denver Post, among others. GVI has also been featured on various international television programs.
  • GVI's mission is to offer qualifying projects the necessary financial and volunteer assistance required to achieve their goals in conservation and community development. The projects research rights and successes remain with the organizations supported
  • Qualifying international charities, non profit organizations and governmental agencies are eligible for GVI's services free of any charge.
