Health and Safety
From the time I was picked up at Quito airport to my departure I was looked after superbly.
Marcus Johnson, 2005
The health and safety of all Global Vision International volunteers is paramount. Therefore GVI employ the highest standards in all our procedures at every stage of your volunteer travel, from before you go on volunteer vacation till after you return. Our network of over 100 trained field staff and advisers operate in more than 35 countries worldwide and work to ensure your project is the fun, enjoyable and safe volunteering experience it should be.
GVI field staff send regular updates to GVI regional offices to ensure we are always in touch with the most up-to-date local and regional developments, so we can give you all the advice you need to make an informed and current decision. All GVI staff are on long-term contracts to ensure we have a brilliant knowledge of each project and project destination, to increase the enjoyment and safety of every volunteers’ overseas adventure. By receiving regular advice from our trained field staff and the Foreign Office, GVI is able to offer each volunteer the safest trip they possibly can, allowing you to focus on enjoying your time away!
In addition all GVI volunteers receive:
- Airport pick-up
- Welcome and orientation session
- Pre-departure information packs
- Accommodation
- In-country coordinators in every country that GVI operates
- Project managers to ensure you get the most out of your experience and help you with any problems you may have
- A 24 hour emergency phone line
- All training materials required.
PLEASE NOTE: GVI programs are not vacations! It must be understood that all programs, by definition, are going to have a risk factor, whether you choose to volunteer overseas to work in a rainforest or dive on a coral reef. All future volunteers should be aware of the risks involved and make an informed decision on participation, as we sometimes operate in remote conditions and in sometimes deal hands on, with wildlife. GVI endeavors to offer you the safest way to experience amazing opportunities.
