What's Included

The Booking Process

Once GVI receives your application form, one of our experienced regional coordinators will give you a call to find out if you have any further questions, or simply want to find out more about volunteering. All GVI staff regularly visit the project sites, and have volunteered and travelled themselves, so have an in-depth knowledge and boundless enthusiasm that ensures your application process runs smoothly and efficiently.

Arrival And Departure Information

You must arrive on the published start date of the expedition. Once you have arrived in Johannesburg International Airport, you will join a coach organized by GVI to transfer expedition members directly to one of the expedition bases. This journey takes approximately five hours. Please note that this is at your own expense, prices can be found on the dates and costs page.

At the end of the first 5 weeks in South Africa, volunteers will have the option of travelling back to the airport or travelling on at their leisure. At the time of booking volunteers must also have confirmed their start dates for the additional programs with their local GVI office – so you may wish to travel straight on to one of the other projects or take time to explore the region before the next start date.
