TEFL Courses:

If you are joining teaching projects or just want to gain some skills in communicating, a TEFL course is recommended. GVI has linked up with one of the UK’s largest TEFL training schools to offer an intensive, introductory course providing an overview of techniques, methods and practical ideas designed to enable participants to ‘survive’ in the language classroom and enjoy the delights of teaching English as a foreign language. As far as your expectations are concerned, don’t expect to work miracles in weeks. Numerous volunteers set their expectations far too high and then become disenchanted when their results fall drastically short. Yet still, you will find that the enthusiasm for learning, sharp curiosity and inherent willingness of the pupils can be an inspiration.

Your Free Time:

You can spend your weekends as you wish, either relaxing on a local beach or taking trips to other parts of the country. We would certainly recommend a few days / weeks either side of your project to explore the country properly. Nature has been generous to Ghana and its national parks, containing the rainforest of Kakum and Ankasa and the broad savannah of Mole, are havens for indigenous flora and fauna. Tropical landscapes of coastal plains with dramatic backdrops of forested hills, cascading waterfalls and bird sanctuaries characterize this country. The dense rainforests are interrupted occasionally by cocoa farms and bustling villages, towns and cities.
