Course Life
Refreshment TEFL Course in Thailand
Sample Day
After having either a western style breakfast or tastier Thai options, you begin your day lesson planning for your evening teaching classes at Ao Luk's Non-Formal Education Centre. After reviewing your lesson plan with an experienced teacher, you will have time to visit a nearby national park, practice your Thai with the rangers and swim in the crystal clear natural streams. After returning to base to get prepared, you will head off to teach your lesson. After lessons you can enjoy a cool drink in town on your way back to base and a tasty dinner prepared by your fellow course participants.
Sample Week
Teaching and the associated preparation will be your focus throughout the week, yet you will still have plenty of opportunity to enjoy the range of activities you can find close by. Near the base you can explore local caves, Buddhist temples and shrines, local markets and restaurants, national parks and much more. On the weekends you will have free time and may choose to explore further afield. The magnificent beaches of Koh Phi Phi and Railay are easy weekend destinations, or you could travel to Myanmar by boat to experience a glimpse of Burmese culture.
Thai people are very friendly and hold high regard for their teachers. Therefore don't be surprised if you are invited for meals by your students, visits to their homes or even for weekend activities. These give you great chances to see a side of Thailand not generally available to the independent traveller. Parties that are held on the expedition base for staff, participants and the local community, are also common and are great fun.
