Take a walk on the wild side with GVI

10 October 2006

Global Vision International (GVI), an organisation which provides support to critical conservation and humanitarian projects across the globe, has places available on its five and ten week Kenyan expeditions where you can experience a whole continent of nature in one place.

The expedition is a unique opportunity for adventurers and nature lovers to experience the amazing bio-diversity of the Shimoni Archipelago – a group of islands off the Kenyan coast and the border with Tanzania. Those who sign-up to this expedition should expect to get up close and personal with endangered species from across the animal kingdom as they work alongside GVI’s charity partners such as the Kenyan Wildlife Service.

From elephant re-location and big game research in a National Park, to dolphin monitoring and camping out under the stars in a rare coral rag forest researching monkeys, the GVI Shimoni Expedition is what can only be described as a once in a lifetime opportunity. Volunteers can also get involved with local community projects, such as environmental sustainability education and community infrastructure construction, which make a real difference to those who live in this stunningly beautiful part of Africa.

“If you're looking for a life-changing experience in a truly exotic location, this expedition is for you!” says Alexis Bleasdale, marketing manager for GVI. “Working with our partner charities we’re able to offer this unique package where volunteers can interact with some of the most amazing land and sea creatures on the planet, whilst taking part in pioneering research to protect them. Visiting the Shimoni Archipelago is a very special experience and one that stays with you forever.”
