The expedition is located on the upper Napo River in the Orellana province of the Ecuadorian Amazon about 9 hours from the capital Quito. The expedition focuses on rainforest conservation and community development and is run in partnership with Ecuador’s Yachana Foundation (www.funedesin.org) which is located 20 mins further up and across the Napo River from the expedition base.

Start Date

January 2008, preferably at least a week before the start of the expedition. Can start earlier in 2007 if possible/relevant.

Description

The role is to assist the Expedition staff in the running and operation of all aspects of the Expedition: helping with science and community programmes, logistics, training of Expedition Members, maintenance of equipment, keeping high standards of health and safety.

Qualifications Required

  • 10 weeks experience of expedition life, (preferably tropical forest experience) enthusiastic, flexible, know survey and monitoring techniques. Spanish would be an advantage.
