Location
The Biosphere Reserve of Ría Lagatos is situated in the north eastern part of the Yucatan Peninsula, in between Cancun and Mérida. The Reserve has two bases, El Cuyo and Ría Lagartos. Turtle monitoring will take place at both bases and a small base in between, called Los Colorados

Turtle season starts in May (until October), interns welcome to join earlier in April to become used to Park and help with other projects.

Description
Monitoring, labeling and measuring nesting turtles, transferring nests, releasing hatchlings into the wild, patrolling beaches, taking care of nests and hatchlings. Writing up reports and analyzing data. Educating local community on turtle conservation and helping to develop the Visitors´ Centre.

Qualifications Required
- Basic Spanish needed. No past experience necessary although a science background and data entry experience would be useful. Good teamwork skills as well as capable of taking initiative and working without supervision. Need to be fairly fit, particularly for night beach patrols, able to swim and have a driving licence.
